Question Your vote wanted --renew reading?

For the last six months, the HCC has funded the weekly reading and posts of the Rainsville bridge gage. That deal expires in July and so we need to decide whether to continue for another six months. What do you think? Anyone getting some value form these posts?

As for the future, some may say that since the probability of heavy rains and flows is now remote, why bother. But at this point, readings may be of more interest to the flatwater folks than the ww crowd. I gather that the BP needs to have a certain minimum level to make an acceptable float. (Any one willing to define that level?)

Anyway, post your views here and/or email me or Dan V. so we can bring it to the board.

By the way, too early to give details yet, but we are making some genuine progress in pursuit of a USGS gage on the Pine. Keep posted and keep fingers crossed.
Terry

I'd say let's keep it going. Granted I've not been able to make use of them, but it's been Very nice to have an idea when it's running.

I know we won't likely see any WW level flows anytime soon, but with fall coming ( eventually) I'd rather see it continue, and be going when the rain returns.

Thumbs up Keep it going...

Thanks Terry, for keeping the effort going on the USGS gage too.

If we don't have anyone checking the gage regularly a lot of folks outside the area would probably miss any opportunities to paddle it that did occasionally come along. I, for one, am not going to drive 4-1/2 hours on a hope and a guess.

Also thanks to some of the locals (like Ed Ragsdale and Ken Starrs) who have been helping to get extra information out there when conditions begin to look favorable.

It would seem we have lost our gage reader, she will be moving soon.

We are working on "other" solutions.
