Notes and Directions for HCC / YMCA Pool Sessions

Event:
HCC Pool Practice & Roll Session

Where:
Benjamin Harrison YMCA
5736 Lee Road
Indianapolis, IN 46216
317-547-9622

When:
Every Saturday in December (Dec. 5, 12, 19, 26)
2 - 4 p.m.

Cost:
$10 Adults per session
Kids and Teens under 18 FREE (with adult)

Directions:
Take I-465 to Exit 40 on the east side of Indianapolis, exit at 56th STREET going EAST.
Go approximately 2.2 miles to LEE ROAD, turn LEFT (north).
Go about 1/4 mile, the YMCA is the white building on your left.

All participants must be HCC members. Applications to join the HCC will be available by the pool. Annual membership is $15 for individuals & families.

Everyone MUST stop at the front desk and SIGN IN. Tell the YMCA staff you are with the HCC. Then drive around to the west side of the building where there is plenty of parking close to the rear door of the lap pool. The chain link fence should be open to bring boats in. Please make sure all boats are free of mud, sand and debris before bringing them in the building.

At poolside please sign the HCC roster, pay the pool fee and fill out the YMCA Release Form before getting into the pool.

We have rented five lanes of the large lap pool. Two lanes need to be open for members of the "Y". Please be considerate of any swimmers in these lanes. I'm trying to secure a portion of the adjacent exercise pool for roll training with instructors. Please don't put boats in the exercise pool until we get permission to do so.

The lap pool is five feet deep. Young children in boats should be supervised by an adult and wear a PFD. Swimming is not allowed around the boats in the lap pool but is permitted in the exercise pool.

The staff at the "Y" are very curious and eager to see what we're about. I expect the "Y" members will have lots of interest too. Inviting the members and staff to try out a kayak will no doubt bring lots of goodwill. If things go well and Thatcher Pool is still unavailable we can hopefully extend these weekend sessions through the winter.
